A particularly interesting title at a bookstore in Lake Placid, New York
The 10th book I read this year was ‘Dead Lions’ by Mike Herron. This is the 2nd book in the slow horses series. It continues the caustic wit, slick writing, and overplotting of the first book for further hilarity and fun. I am definitely reading the whole series now.
The TV show based on this series is just as good. Gary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb is the hero we deserve. I’ve found a series, much like the C.B. Strike series, that would help me escape into a warped but fun make-believe world, especially when the real-world gets harder to make sense of by the day.
