One of my favorite recent photos. This is from Diwali last year. This is one of those unplanned shots that end up beautifully while you work hard on planning for your next big shot. This is similar in mood to the other shot that I absolutely loved.

I converted it to B&W almost without hesitation. I liked the colored version (below) but it seemed to distract a bit from the subject.

This is a B&W conversion using Nik's Silver Efex Pro. This tool takes the simple concept of a B&W conversion to a whole different level. There is a plethora of options to choose from. Creative possibilities are almost limitless. The trick is to not go overboard and choose the options that reduce gimmick and bring out the central idea...and quickly.

I used copper tonality on this which seems to bring out a rather rich emotional emotional tone. There is also a reasonably heavy vignetting, again aimed at removing distractions.
