Did you know that the year used to have about 400 days until the moon came along? The earth used to be able to take several more rotations around its axis in a year before the moon came along and the drag slowed us down so now we can only make about 365 rotations in one revolution around the sun. 

I learned this by listening to Radiolab, the amazing podcast about science, ideas and philosophy or really about curiosity - as they describe it themselves. It is a great source for some of the most amazing, bizarre and mind-blowing stories about science and the modern world  presented in a fun, lighthearted podcast.  They only publish two-three episodes a month so they are not hard to keep following. 

It is a great way to engage your mind while you are working out or on a boring train ride. 

I've developed quite a love for podcasts as a medium lately. I find them to be a great (relatively) new medium for storytelling. They seem to provide a great platform for certain type of stories that previously had none. It is also great to note that the average quality has gone up a lot so they are worth a shot specially as they cause nothing for some truly great content. 

I am particularly fond of NPR podcasts and Radiolab is easily one of my favorites.
