Portraits look great in Black & White. This particular one benefited from some grain I added using Nik Silver Efex Pro, a popular Photoshop plugin for B&W conversion.

Nik Software has been bought by Google, not so much for their Photoshop plugins but for their excellent mobile app called Snapseed. It is a great mobile app for those who tend to do a lot of editing to their mobile photos. It is a far better alternative to Instagram but without the social aspect: which is where Google is coming in I guess. They are probably going to add it to Google+ while Facebook is probably working on adding Instagram to their mobile app. I am actually surprised they haven't done it yet. I can so easily see an option in Facebook mobile app to take an "Instagram" photo. Let's get prepared for even more crappy photos on Facebook :)
