Not-so-nervous 290s

On a beautiful, sunny day many many years ago, instead of biking by the river I would have spent my time desperately trying to club a cork ball with a wooden bat in the sweltering heat of an Indian summer. A sport otherwise known as Cricket. Speaking of which, this photo is from week #290. That is 10 short of the completion of this project. This is another photo taken using the Fuji x100t, a camera I want to use but usually cannot

Speaking of 290s, so far, there have only been 7 times in the 138-year history of the game of Test Cricket that batsmen have been dismissed for a score between 290 and 300 - that is in the 'nervous 290s'. Given that there have been 28 triple-centuries so far, there seems to be a 1 in 5 chance that a batsman will get to 290s but won't make it to 300. That's a pretty high odd for a goal that is still pretty rare (a triple century is scored roughly once every five years).

Some good company there in the 290s...

  • Virendra Sehwag, 293 in 2009
  • Vivian Richards, 291 in 1976
  • RR Sarwan, 291 in 2009
