Watch 3 won't unlock unless High Sierra

Just when I decided not to upgrade to High Sierra - I realized Apple killed the most (maybe only) useful feature of Apple Watch - the ability to unlock the Mac - if Watch 3 and not High Sierra. 

Ugh. 

Still won't upgrade though.
